Exhibition in Geneva shows how Biosphere Reserves are pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals
The exhibition Our Biosphere Our Future Local Actions for the Sustainable Development Goals is one of the highlights of the Sustainability Week at the University of Geneva between March 9th and 13th
Occupying the main hall of the UNIMAIL it displays successful initiatives in biosphere reserves around the world to address challenges posed by each goal of the global sustainable development agenda A panel dedicated to the Arganeraie Biosphere Reserve in Morocco for instance shows how the production of argan oil is empowering women with more opportunities In the St Marys Biosphere Reserve in St Kitts and Nevis a project funded by the Flemish Government of Belgium is creating jobs for young people in beekeeping
The exhibition has been presented in the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris during the meeting of the Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme in June 2019 and in Madrid Spain in the framework of UN Climate Change Conference COP25
Created by the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere MAB Programme sponsored by the Abertis Foundation the exhibition reached Geneva thanks to the support of the UNESCO liaison office in Geneva
