Webinar on the SDG4 Implementation and Progress in Mongolia

As part of the Advocacy and Awareness Campaign in Mongolia for the SDG 4 – Education 2030 Agenda, a webinar was held on the SDG 4 implementation and progress in Mongolia in the afternoon of 13 August 2021.

Mr. Ganbaatar Jadamba, Head of Department of Policy Planning of Ministry of Education and Science, made a speech to open the webinar and called for insights and exchanges from the participants.

Mr. Robert Parua, Programme Specialist for Education of UNESCO Beijing Office, opened the webinar and made a keynote presentation on the ESD Roadmap for 2020-2030, and the SDG targets 4.3, 4.4 and 4.7.

Dr. Nergui, representing the SDG 4 Task Force on the preparation of Mongolia’s SDG 4 Mid-term Progress Report, introduced the progress of the report preparation. She introduced to audience the implementation progress of SDG 4 in Mongolia and the priorities of SDG 4 progress and achievements, and the alignment to the national strategies and plans.  

UNICEF Mongolia reviewed the progress on early childhood education and preschool education in Mongolia, which reflects the implementation, progress and gaps in SDG target 4.2.

SDG Target 4.3 was reflected by Vocational Education and Training Partnership (VETP) through the introduction and review of the Technical and vocation education and training as well as the skills development and employment issues in Mongolia.

Mongolia Institute for Education Research (MIER) shared the progress on Education for Sustainable Development that fits for SDG target 4.7.

International Organization for Migration (IOM) introduced to the participants the status quo, the challenges and the policies targeting the rising migration in Mongolia, especially the domestic migration of student populations.

Ms. Uyanga, Secretary General of Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, applauded on the active sharing and review of the key SDG 4 targets that are in relevance to the Mongolia’s status. She thanked UNESCO’s lead in continuous advocating and localization of the SDG 4 – Education 2030 Agenda to align to the Mongolian national strategies and education policies, including the efforts through the comprehensive policy reviews that UNESCO supported in Education Sector, TVET sector and ICTs in Education.
