9 June 2022 – From 15 to 17 June 2022, participants from across the globe will come together for the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII) in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco, to develop new commitments ensuring that all adults have access to learning opportunities.

Journalists wishing to attend the press conference and cover the conference, online or in person, should register here (code: CONFINTEA7MED).

General presentation

While there is progress, notably in the participation of women, those who need adult education the most – disadvantaged and vulnerable groups such as Indigenous learners, rural populations, migrants, older citizens, people with disabilities or prisoners – are still too often deprived of access to learning opportunities.

Over 1,000 participants from all word regions will be a part of CONFINTEA VII, the theme of which is ‘Adult learning and education for sustainable development – A transformative agenda’. This high-level event, which takes place every decade, is an opportunity to take stock of achievements in adult learning as well as examine challenges and put forward solutions.

The conference will close with the adoption of the Marrakech Framework for Action, which will cement the commitments of UNESCO Member States to shape the future of adult learning and education into the next decade.

CONFINTEA VII is a hybrid event and is hosted by UNESCO and the Kingdom of Morocco.
