Return of a Roman / Thracian helmet and mask

The Museum of Archaeology in Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria, recovered in April 2015, a silver Roman/Thracian helmet and mask, which disappeared in 1995 after an armed robbery. Following a successful investigation by the Special Prosecutor's Office in Bulgaria, the precious object was returned to the museum. The helmet and mask date from the 1st century AD, and belonged to a Thracian aristocrat from ancient Philipopolis (now Plovdiv), the objects having been discovered in his mound at the beginning of the 20th century.
