The Online Capacity Building Workshop on “Managing Skills in a Time of Changing Demands” in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Turkmenistan
The Online Capacity Building Workshop on “Managing Skills in a Time of Changing Demands” in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Turkmenistan, was jointly organized by the UNESCO Cluster Tehran office and Secretariat of National Commission of Turkmenistan on November 2, 2021. The workshop was held to provide participants with a sound understanding of the main functions, components, and applications of labor market information and intelligence, to build the capacity on the use of the relevant evidence, to understand better and address the challenging nature of the skills needed by the labor market.
It started with opening speeches from the UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office and the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan. Then, it continued with the panel presentations from the Ministry of Education, Labor and Foreign Affairs and representatives from the Institute of telecommunications and informatics, Construction secondary vocational school, and the union of industrialists and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The workshop benefited from technical presentations by Mr.Camille Courchesne, UNESCO Consultant, Mr.Hiromichi Katayama, UNESCO Headquarters, and representatives from UNDP and ETF in Turkmenistan. Presentations covered information gathered from international best practices and examples from Canada on labor market observation, labor market information, Skills forecasting, skills development governance, and use of non-traditional data, and skill development governance.
More than 40 participants attended the virtual workshop from the different governmental organizations, academic institution and vocational schools of Turkmenistan.
