Meeting of the Multisectoral Group on Albinism

UNESCO Maputo, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice Constitutional and Religious Rights, coordinated the meeting of the Multisectoral Group on Albinism on 30 June 2020. The meeting, which followed the organization of the PALOP Conference and Training on Albinism, aimed at establishing a coordination mechanism to address developmental and human rights challenges that affect persons with albinism in Mozambique and within the PALOP. The meeting, which was also virtual, was attended by the representative of the Ministry of Justice, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), civil society organizations (Albimoz, Amor à Vida, Khanimambo and CDI). The meeting came up with priorities in the area of albinism, which are: 1) review the Action Plan on Albinism, 2) establish a national coordination mechanism, 3) establish a PALOP network on albinism, and 4) resource mobilization to address issues affecting PWA (People With Albinism).
