Díaz-Canel receives Director-General of UNESCO

The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received this Friday the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ms Audrey Azoulay, who is on an official visit to our country.
In a cordial atmosphere, they discussed the state of current ties between UNESCO and Cuba, and ratified their willingness to continue to strengthen them. Likewise, they highlighted the priority both parties have given to develop education, culture and science, as well as the use of the information and communication technologies. In addition, they exchanged ideas on other themes relative to the Organization’s mandate.
Accompanying the distinguished visitor, were UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture Ernesto Ottone Ramírez and the head of the UNESCO Latin American and Caribbean Unit in Havana, Ms Sophia El-Akremi.
Also present on behalf of Cuba were the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, the Director of the Cuban National Commission of UNESCO, Oscar León González, and the Ambassador appointed to UNESCO, Yahima Esquivel Moynelo.
