Launched in 1995 by the National Library of the Czech Republic, in co-operation with the Prague-based company Albertina icome, this programme has from the very outset espoused UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme. Subsequently, several pilot projects were implemented, including the first CD-ROM of the Programme and the first published digitized manuscript.
Developed for Memoriae Mundi Series Bohemica, the Czech data format DOBM was accepted by UNESCO as an internationally recommended format for publications within the Memory of the World Programme.
